Meet The Cast: David Heslop

David plays the role of the immature yet wanting to be grown up brother in our newest film Coming out for Christmas, here the actor talks to us about his time on the film and his influences.

HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE ON SET OF COMING OUT FOR CHRISTMAS?

DAVID: I really enjoyed my experience on Coming Out For Christmas. The cast and crew were great and the atmosphere it created was a really nice environment to be in.

WHAT WAS IT THAT DREW YOU TO YOUR CHARACTER IN COMING OUT FOR CHRISTMAS?

DAVID: He's certainly a funny character - to a point a child trapped in an adult’s body but also he remains rather unfazed by everything going on throughout to the point of not really being bothered.

DO YOU THINK THERE ARE A GOOD AMOUNT OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR WORKING IN FILM/THEATRE/TV IN THE NORTH EAST?

DAVID: Not particularly. This production has been the only one I have received that has been in the North East. Predominately most remain in the South, or second to that, the North West in areas like Manchester.

IS THERE A FILM/FILMMAKER/ACTOR THAT INSPIRED YOU TO GET INTO ACTING?

DAVID: Not particularly, acting is something that I've wanted to do for many years and it took me a while to find the courage to do it. However there are certainly plenty of actors and filmmakers I look at to gain ideas and techniques from so I can become a better performer.

IF YOU COULD WORK WITH ANY FILMMAKER OR ACTOR (LIVING OR DEAD) WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

DAVID: I would love to work with Tom Hardy. He has such an incredible presence and power that he puts on his characters and brings to the screen and of course he is one of Britain's finest actors today.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST ANTICIPATED FILM THIS YEAR?

DAVID: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

WHAT’S THE BEST FILM OR TV SHOW YOU HAVE SEEN RECENTLY AND WHY?

DAVID: Tough, it would be a toss-up between Game of Thrones and Spotlight. Game of Thrones is a show I've watched and loved for ages but Spotlight was brilliant film which shed light on an incredibly disturbing topic.

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON?

DAVID: I'm currently working on my first feature, which will be released later in the year.
