FAQs

Who is it for?

Rianne Pictures was set up with the ethos that you can enter the film industry despite your background, experience level or qualifications. Meaning that anyone can apply to volunteer here. All members of the team here are volunteers, working collaboratively together to achieve our development programmes, produce our award winning shorts and host our BIFA accredited international film festival Women X, along with many other events and workshops.

How long is it for?

We offer long term and short term volunteering, with training included and opportunities for further mentoring and development. Some volunteers have been with us for over 8 years!

As much as we operate year round, there are certain times of the year where we are understandably busier than usual, predominantly from January to September in preparation for the Women X Film Festival and its script competition. 90% of our volunteering is done online remotely, so it really doesn't matter where you are based! Currently we have team members from all over such as Cardiff, Essex, Glasgow, Manchester, London, Newcastle, Sheffield the list goes on….

What can I achieve from this?

Each of our year round volunteers and junior programmers have development plans where they work towards personal goals they want to achieve from volunteering at Rianne Pictures, and we love to celebrate these achievements as we work on them together.

A little bit like how Mel wanted to create and host craft sessions at the festival, which we have successfully incorporated since the 2023 festival, Emily who wanted to lead more Experimental programming at the festivals such as the 2024 strand ‘Under The Skin’ and Ashton who created a fun way of audiences voting on which films they liked most at the festival on their way out of the screenings.

Our volunteers have used their skillsets to move on to exciting roles within the film and TV industry, and working with various international film festivals such as London Film Festival, Opencity Documentary Film Festival, Sheffield DocFest and Leeds International Film Festival.
